Echoes From The Tomb.

THE SATURDAY SCRATCHING POST. (Evening Edition #4)

SYMPHONY FOR THE SOUL.

I was really little the last time that I sat down in an actual church, I don’t remember my exact age but I couldn’t have been more than three or four years old, I seem to recall though that my uncle, (on my fathers side) was the pastor, and I seemed to have found the whole experience quite scary and unpleasant. My mother never made me go back to church after that and I didn’t much care to go on my own so I just stayed away from the whole religious scene all together from then on even though I still held on to my belief in God. You see me and the big guy we have this understanding, I screw up, and he makes me pay for it, whether I want to or not. Sometimes you know, I’ll be cruising along enjoying my day, and an opportunity will present itself for me to take one of my little shortcuts, and I’ll start to do something really stupid, not fully grasping the true level of stupidity of the act that I am about to commit, and just before that first step is taken I’ll hear that familiar little voice waaaaaay in the back of my head.. “UMM.. SCRATCH?? Are You sure that you want to do THAT? You know… there IS a better way son..” and I start to answer out loud. “Yeah, Yeah, Yeah.. I know.. But geez.. It takes soooo long to do it by the book, maybe I can do it THIS way just once Huh? Wadda ya think?? Maybe just this once huh?” and then I can almost hear the sound of fingernails scratching on whiskers in the back of my head.. “OOOOKAAY, but you know Scratch.. You will be sorry for this later.. And I had better not hear you complaining that it was all MY fault!” and well.. I take the short cut and it always blows up in my face.. And that little voice comes back.. “Hey Scraaaatch? … I toooold you so!” now.. I’m not going to sit here and try to tell you that I have actual conversations with the Heavenly Father, but I do think that he still reaches me through my conscience and tries to let me know when I’m about to screw up, so for the most part even though I haven’t been to church in a very long time I know he’s still hanging around somewhere waiting for me to have another one of my ooopps moments. I would like very much to go back to an actual church someday, there seems to be something so cleansing about the spiritual side of life that I think I may be missing out on, and this morning as I was perusing through some of the blogs I think I may have happened upon a solution to my religious conundrum.. The Blogstream Community Church. (not Joking.) this may be the ticket.. I’m not perfect.. I make a lot of mistakes, but my heart is in the right place and I’m a decent hard working kind of guy I’m going to check it out in the morning.. Seriously.. I’ll let you know what I think later on. Who knows? Maybe there’s hope for a salty old dog like me after all.

MY BODY IS A TEMPLE. (BUT THE FOUNDATION IS CRUMBLING.)

I try to really eat healthy, but exactly what that entails its hard to say nowadays, what is in this shit that we keep putting in our bodies?? I mean, man I started on the salads only kick for awhile, because its pretty easy to see what’s in a salad, you have your basic lettuce, tomato, and other various veggies, so that’s all good for you.. Until you put on the store bought salad dressing, don’t worry I won’t bother to tell you to read the labels, after all I probably wouldn’t be able to spell or pronounce half of the shit that’s in there anyways. Make your own if you know how, but there is so much junk out there to help you get fat all in the name of good ol capitalism, I like how McDonalds uses Americans as Lab rats, it seems as though anything that they can throw on a bun they expect us to eat and the sad part is a lot of people do.. Do we actually know what’s in a McRib sandwich? And what part of the chicken goes into a McNugget? They say fish is healthy.. Say.. Maybe I’ll have dinner At Long John Silver’s, what are they gonna do to a piece of fish? Dip it in in batter and drop it in a pot of boiling hot oil? I quit drinking expecting to get healthier and mentally I did, but my middle age spread keeps on spreading, and any day now I expect I’ll have to start tying my shoes from memory.. Exercise? Are you f**king serious? I ride a bicycle ten miles to work and back four days a week and that’s not counting how much I ride on the weekends.. Watch what I eat? Sure I do.. I watch it go in my mouth where I chew on it vigorously, exercise, eat this but don’t eat that, exercise some more until your as thin as a #2 lead pencil, so the struggle continues as I forge forth on my tree bark diet with a side of water. Trying desperately to avoid the burger binge that keeps creeping around in the back of my mind.. HEY ANYBODY GOT A PIZZA??

MORE DROPS IN THE STREAM..

Well this Morning I stopped by my good pal Rita B’s place/blog, (Momma Never Told Me.) it’s so strange I’ll catch myself doing that, referring to someone’s blog as their place, like I’m gonna go and walk up and knock on the door, I suppose it is after all their place. Anyways she express’s some of the concerns that more than a few of us share here on the Stream about blogger’s who deactivate without so much as saying goodbye or leaving word with anyone as to why they are leaving or even that they are, I’m getting to the point where it doesn’t bother me as much as it used to because so many come back after whatever ails them has subsided, and some just stay gone. People have their reasons and sometimes its nothing more than the need to just move on to something else.. Good post though Rita B.

Leave it to Whit, (Whit’s Whittlings.) to stir things up in the ol thought locker. Its seems as though he keeps getting better at provoking people into thinking about things in ways that you wouldn’t normally, his latest masterpiece is “How Do You Dress Your Wiener?” great.. Thanks Whit.. that’s What I need to start thinking about, juicy beefy hot dogs dripping with Ketchup, relish, mayo, onions and mustard, and of course with a big ol dill pickle spear on the side with a cold beverage.. Just the thing to have rolling around in the back of your mind while your trying to stick to your Tree bark diet.. Good one Whit… Thanks.

A lot of times when I’m just sort of hopping around the Stream I’ll come across something that just makes me wanna tell that person that wrote the particular piece that everything is going to be okay, and it will all work out for the best.. Today I visited with one of our Australian sister’s Kaz.. (Kaz’s Komments.) instead of the usual Friday Five she posted a five wish list and they all were really good, and you know if everyone would stop by say something nice to our Australian sis, maybe with enough positive energy flowing in her direction her wishes may come true.. Wouldn’t that be great? Well Kaz I for one hope you get all of them.. You deserve it..

THE NEW KIDS ON THE BLOG..

I think more than a few of us have already had a good taste of my new Blog pick of the week, she’s been bouncing around the Stream for a week or so already but her charms are hard to resist, it’s a blog called “Is Everyone Crazy!!?!?” by Miss T.. I enjoy her writing style and wit and as always I think she is going to fit right in around here quite nicely. I also ran into a few blogs that I want to give Honorable mention to, “My Life’s Journey,” by Nay could be something to watch in the near future.. Another new Blog that I really got a kick out of is “In Heaven, Bacon is a low- Fat Food.” by Robics Lady, stay tuned to this one too. So anyhow.. There they be My blog(s) pick of the week. Hope everyone has a great Friday.

 The Thursday Night Throwdown.

BLOGGING BY THE NUMBERS..

I recently started up an account at My Space.Com, I haven’t really done anything with it yet, as I have been there a few times but was never satisfied with the end result. It just feels like a meat market to me, the writing that I have read just failed to capture my attention for any length of time. Moving on I have truthfully tried at least fifteen to twenty different blogging sites on the net and none even comes close by comparison to Blogstream just for its feel of community alone, the interaction between the writers here makes it extremely easy for a new blogger to get their feet wet and feel like they are a part of something special, and the lunacy witnessed by all last Friday was a testament to that. The Blogstream is a unique blend of wonderful personalities that make the blogging experience exactly what it should be, a magical place where ideas are born and shared, and where people come to tell all of their deepest hopes and fears and to express themselves on a creative level like no place else I have ever seen. Attention new blogger’s, you have reached your ultimate destination, welcome home.

 THANKS..

Well the fire is out as far as I know, and when I woke up this morning I didn't have to smell smoke when I openned the windows to let some air in here. A lot of people slept a little easier last night and this morning I have to admit I'm not so nervous about going in to work.. it rained at about 12:30 pm over behind the hills where I work and what was left of the fire that headed northwest was snuffed out.. so it would appear as the the rain that Sherry said she would send us arrived right on time.. thanks Sherry, ol Scratch is gonna enjoy some coffee then he's off to finish the work week.. once again thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers thankfully no one lost their homes in this.. I guess Praying pays.. thank you all for that.. I'll see ya's all tonight.. Scratch.

 DAY TWO..

DAY TWO...

I got this picture from the local newspaper here, and it is of the fire that I Saw Monday up in the hills behind Goni Rd and Conastoga where I work, Here in Carson City. As of 6:00 PM this evening (PST) it is still burning. I picked up today’s paper on the way home to get the Particulars.. At this hour it has consumed at least 1500 acres and threatened an estimated 300 homes in the Mound House area which according to what I read was (Thank god) evacuated.. I have friends there. Mound House is a small place about two to three miles east of Carson City.. So far no homes were lost but I haven’t seen anything in the paper about containment.. And at 6:00 pm as I was leaving work there were fighting it up in the hills and it has moved directly behind the industrial area and was moving northwest.. I made it home again in one piece but there are several of us who still have growing concerns for what still sits in its path.. I’ll try to post again tomorrow.. Night all… Scratch.
