THE SATURDAY SCRATCHING POST. (EARLY EVENING EDITION #5 )

THE CASE OF THE NON CONFORMING COUCH.. ( A SAD BUT TRUE STORY.)

It has been pointed out to me the I may have some sort of exotic summertime tiger ailment because I haven’t really posted anything in a few days, some are curious, some are just glad I’m sure, please allow me to attempt an explanation. It all started on Wednesday night, everything was fine, I came home from work to a slightly cool Tomb and took a shower, and had dinner I checked in briefly with the activities on the stream, there was no Drama or peril to contend with, the Stream flowed ever so quietly along so I left it to its own and lye down on the sofa for a quick Cat nap before I had to go to work the next morning. That’s when the trouble started, somewhere between the time that I went to sleep and the time that I woke up the sofa had suffered a meltdown.. Two of the support springs broke in the middle of the night and I slowly began to sink into the pits of oblivion, no problem, I can sleep through a hurricane, problem was, when I woke up my ass was sitting on the floor and both feet were up in the air and one of the wooden support pieces was jammed into my back.. (can you say ouch?) so I ended up going to work with a serious pain in my back. For the last six hours of my work week I plotted the demise of the dastardly sofa. What was I gonna do? No truck to haul it off with, and everybody was still at work and would have to go back to work the next morning while I was at home helplessly trying to figure out what to do about this mess.. As I walked in the door of the Tomb I could feel it gloating.. Like it had won the World Cup or something, and as I sat down into my desk chair to consider my options for revenge, a plan began to take shape in my head, I slowly made my way past the culprit and went into the walk in closet and retrieved my two pound sledge hammer and a Flat toed crow bar. As I came out and strolled leisurely beside it I maneuvered myself into position at its left flank.. Suddenly without warning I launched a crippling sneak attack on the unsuspecting lout and managed to get it turned over onto its belly before mercilessly pounding on its arm rests. And to make a long story short, I won the days battle and now the carcass of the great beast lay on the floor of the bedroom that I use for storage here in the Tomb. Below is a picture of what remains of my tormentor before I cut it up and throw it in the dumpster on garbage day.

THE CARCASS AND THE TOOLS USED TO DISMANTLE IT.

At this hour the Scratchcat sits on his throne gloating over his mighty yet hard fought victory.. behold the spoils of battle below.. A Brand new Futon! ( I didn't mind that I had to put it together myself.) and by Odins beard! it folds down into a full sized bed!!

THE "X" PAGE (SPECIAL HOLIDAY EDITION #6.)

Welcome to a special holiday edition of The "X" page!

EMPTY FRAMES..

When I was very, very young I used to think that I had everything figured out. I knew where I was going in life and exactly what it was going to take in effort to get me there, young, virile and wise beyond my years, or at least that’s what I had convinced myself that I was. that’s what most young people think, that your young forever, life is everlasting, the future is now. All that we have is today, fuck tomorrow, its never coming, not for me, not for anyone. Nobody can tell me anything because I’m smarter than that, I don’t believe a bunch of old folks who all just sit around all day talking about what was instead of living what is. Guess what kid? What was has brought us to what is, see, most of us thought along those lines when we were young, let me let you in on a little secret that all of us older folks know, (not that 47 is old by any means.) you see, the road of life doesn’t change, only the travelers, most of us have already been on that road your walking down right now, and trust me, we remember where all of those potholes are. You see when your young its like life is giving you an empty picture frame, no picture just a empty frame, and as you live you paint the picture with your experiences, every now and again the smart ones will go back to the picture to see where they’ve been, to see where they made all of the mistakes, so they don’t keep repeating them. Sometimes when your young you get a tendency to walk with your eye closed, the blinders are up and you pay little if any attention to what’s going on around you, that’s when you start hitting all of those potholes, and as your getting on with painting that picture, when you reach a certain age (again only some of us.) you tend to plan your steps a little more cautiously, you tend to start wondering where this road is leading you to, and you find yourself planning ahead, and inevitably slowing down, some of us are still painting their pictures, some aren’t even halfway through, but we’ve already lived through what you are painting, and through it all we’ve learned that we were wrong the whole time. Nothing lasts forever, not youth, not wealth, not fame, not life. When I was but a boy I heard an old adage that simply sounded like an old riddle and made very little sense to me at the time that stated: “In youth we learn. In age we understand.” but I was just a foolish boy who was still learning, and now I’m a man who simply understands. I know you don’t want to listen to me, so I’ll shut up now and just watch you from over here.
Keep painting kid… you’ll get there.

SWIMMING UP THE STREAM..

Mr Ornery of the “ Mr Ornery’s Corner” blog has come up with a delicious sounding concoction for some stuffed Pita bread along with some kind of Rice thing in the bread or on the side, the only problem is that the whole concoction appears to be combustible! OH MY GOD!! Were those FLAMES MR O?? folks Please be very careful going around Mr O’s blog, its okay to read it just be careful the gas that you smell could be your own.

Speaking of Mr O, he just asked me a question that I would like to say something about here. I did go to the Blogstream community Church blog on Sunday, the passages that the Pastor chose to post were quite inspiring and beautiful and over all I found the whole experience enjoyable. I would like to recommend that everyone that believes go check it out it is one of the better written blogs on the stream in my opinion. Check it out.

If you haven’t read it out yet go to Coloconnect’s “Second Chance’s” blog and check out her Blogstream Fairy tale. As with everything Colo writes it is very well done and is a joy to read, even if sometimes she herself doesn’t think so.. Go see for yourself.. it’s a great read.
