DOWNSIZING AMERICA..
The following is part of a conversation that was over heard in anywhere USA, by any one of tens of thousands of American men and women scattered across this country. The morning is brisk and the air is cold and the line outside of the unemployment office is growing, people sway their heads to the side to see if any progress is being made in helping them towards reaching their goal. The door.
Woman in line: “Fred? What in gods name are You doing here?”
Man in line: : “Well, hello Marilyn, long time no see, yeah well I got laid off, so I have to sign up for unemployment now, you know Mary, such is life.”
Woman: “My God Fred! You were with that company forever, and they just Laid you off with out any second thought?”
Man: “Twenty five years.. They downsized my department and moved the whole thing across the border into Mexico.. I got applications in, but damn it’s a whole new world out there since I had to go looking for a job, I had a resume made up but that isn’t going to feed my kids, good thing I have some money in savings otherwise we would be sunk.” what about you Mary?”
Woman: “Same thing, downsizing, after thirteen years they just threw me to the curb, I didn’t make much to begin with so I didn’t have much in the way of savings.. I’ll get by though.. I what else can I do?”
Every day hundreds of thousands of American jobs are being shipped out across the border of the united states into Mexico, they tell us its business, and it only makes sense that should be allowed to do this so their companies can compete in their given markets with their foreign competitors.. Tell that to the families of People like Fred and Marilyn, who’s lives are thrown to the gutter as though they were little more than an after thought. Now I’m not going to start preaching or squawking about the politics of big business.. I don’t have to, the American people aren’t fools, the only thing that really kills me about these situation’s is big business doesn’t seem to mind putting us out of work, so they can make a cheaper product, and the price never seems to go down on anything only the quality of the merchandise. Its as though they’re telling us that we’re not good enough to make their product, but its okay to take our money when they ship their crap into and onto American store shelves. I can remember when the words Made in America meant something. I find the whole thing sickening.. But maybe that’s just me.
UP THE STREAM.
Its no secret that lately I’ve been spending a lot of time in the Blogstream Chatroom, and while I have I’ve made some really nice new friends, and one of them is a energetic young teenager named Trisha, she wants to write and be a counselor I think, (Could be wrong on the counselor thing though.) personally I think Trisha is smart enough to be whatever she wants to be, stop by her blog (My Life, My story’s) and say hello to Trisha, and BE NICE! Don’t make me come over there!
My friend Sherry over at the “Raindrops make things beautiful” blog has wrote a post about an internet predator that is simply a must read, especially if you’re a woman. You really need to check out the post called “Romancing the Internet Skunks.” in addition miss Sherry has started a new blog where she writes fiction stories, its called “The Ashes of my Dreams.” you should give that a read as well, the lady is multi talented.
Has anybody notice a slight spring to the step of my ol buddy Pranky? course if ol Scratch had a hottie like the beautiful Miss Six on his arm, reckon I’d Be bouncing to the moon and back too.. Ahem, all kidding aside I seen the pictures on both of their blogs and boy oh boy they look like they belong together. Some things just seem to fit just right this is one of them. Pranker’s blog is “The Paradox Of The Prankster” and sweet six’s blog is “Venus Vexed.” swing by either or both and say Howdy. Tell em Uncle Scratch sent ya!
THE X PAGE SHOUTOUT.
The first new blog that I think is more than worthy of a Shoutout is called “The Geekly Planet.” by Zappa Fan.. Let me think here.. How would I describe this blog. Well, I guess something’s defy description,just tell the truth I guess, its sharp, witty and funny too check it out.
Another one of the new Blogs that I would like to give a shoutout to is called Jackisberries, by Jackie. She’s been around for awhile but is worth a look, I think in the Chatroom she goes by the name “Moonbean” but I could be wrong, at any rate, please stop by and say hello.
I only had two this weekend and I didn’t really have a whole lot of time to put into this edition of the X page but next week I will be rested completely and ready to go hope to see you here next week. ta ta for now.. Scratch.
