Echoes From The Tomb.
Saturday August 25, 2007
So I woke up really early this morning, because I wanted to get a little writing in before I had to take off again. So I’m drinking coffee and I turn on CNN and what is the first story I see? Michael Vick has been suspended from the NFL indefinitely, and the commissioner has given the Falcons the go ahead to do whatever they deem necessary. Oh give me a break.. Does anybody really think that this guy wasn’t involved in illegal dog fighting? It happened on his property, by people who are close to him and he didn’t know what was going on? Oh… riiiight! That must be why he plead Guilty. personaly, I love animals, some more than others maybe, but I do care about all animals, and what they did to those Pits, was just cruel and inhumane. Now I am hearing that he may spend up to a year in jail and face losing millions of dollars in lost salary.. Oh Booo Fricken Hooo, personally, after hearing about what in did to those animals I think he could use a little psychiatric treatment. Personally? I think they should strip him down to his skivies, rub bear chum all over his body and drop him off in the middle of Jellystone park thousands of miles from nowhere. Well, it would cruel to leave him there defenseless, so give him a flyswatter for protection, and wish him all of the best. Now, I’m not trying to make a joke out of this mind you, its just that my warped brain is more than a little curious to see how he would fair against animals that are big enough to fight back. Now that would be a reality show I would PAY to watch. ~Scratch~ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ | | Posted by Scratch at 10:25 AM -

Back in September of 2005 right before I started this whole blogging thing I made the acquaintance of a certain resident in our little neighborhood here. I still had a set of stairs that traveled down the side of the apartment which gave me direct access to fifth street. One morning as I recall, I got up to go shopping and proceeded to the side exit, and there he was next to a tree stump at the base of the side stairs, all one foot, five inches of him. A skunk, that I have since called “Beano” well when the manager here at the time discovered that there was a skunk somewhere around, he freaked at the thought that it might possibly have a burrow around here somewhere. So he got the maintenance man to have a look around to find it. The end result was we found a small tunnel going under the concrete slab out in back of the apartments, but there was no evidence of Beano anywhere. The maintenance man was going to fill it in with concrete , but I quickly talked him out of it, and we both decided that if he or she was down there it would just be plain ol cruel. So they called the city animal control people to come out and take a look around to see if they could catch Beano and take him (or her.) somewhere else where they wouldn’t be a bother to anyone. They never found it, and I never reported anymore of my chance encounters with it afterwards. I had a few run ins over the past two years with this same skunk, I know it’s the same skunk because of a dark Spot on its white stripe on top of its tail, same spot, same markings, same skunk. He (Or She.) hasn’t been around much this summer though, however last week I did catch sight of him (Or Her.) wandering around in front of the building, as I was leaving. And again this morning, I was up just before sunrise, out on the balcony having coffee , and I looked down at the landscaping in front of the apartments and there he was waddling along looking for something to chew on I would imagine, I didn’t run away in terror, I didn’t hide from him, (or her.) I just let Beano do Beano’s thing, and I drank my coffee and watched. Now, in all fairness I can’t swear and be damned that this was in fact the same Skunk that I called Beano, it was a little dark this morning and I couldn’t really see the stripe, but I am assuming that it was in fact Beano, as there isn’t a large Skunk population around here. If it is Beano, (and I am quite sure I will find out before long.) I am really glad that no harm ever came to him, (Or her.) the simple fact that this animal could survive this long around people without getting killed or run off, tells me that he, (or she.) deserves to live. I think I’ll go out a have some more coffee. ~Scratch~ | | Posted by Scratch at 11:39 AM -

Somewhere between 3:00 and 3:30 this morning, the first sound that I distinctly remember hearing was this irritating long string of beeping noises. At first, in my half asleep state it was hard to determine from which direction in the pitch black room the sounds were coming from, but as the soft beeps slowly become more frequent and increasingly louder by the second, I slowly became conscious of the fact that it was that bastard alarm clock of mine telling me to get my arse out of bed. First of all, I think Sunday night and early Monday morning are both conspiring against me, hear me out, every Sunday night I get to bed by at least nine thirty or so, and I no sooner get my eyes closed and sweet sleep is mine, and BAM!.. Its friggin Monday.. Now I know what you might be thinking, “But Scratch, Its Wednesday, this is a GOOD thing!, only two days left before the weekend.” true, it is Wednesday, but early on, man was it rough, well I won’t go into what happened exactly, But I have been giving a bit of thought about Whits comment on my Monday post. Whit is right.. Monday needs to be abolished, in all of its ugliness, for all of its misery, Monday needs to get put in its place. It is becoming obvious to me, that the biggest reason that Monday needs to be abolished is Its becoming a bad influence on Tuesday and Wednesday. This Morning offered me clear evidence that Monday’s influence has reached all of the way into Wednesday morning.. First of all, the alarm clock went off Waaaaaay too early for my taste, (Clearly, Monday’s handy work.) Second, the Coffee pot refused me service until after I got in my morning shower, forcing me to be fully awakened by the lack of hot water halfway through said shower, rather than waking up with a refreshing cup of brew first. Not to mention the fact the half of my neighborhood was awakened by my blood curdling screams this morning when the showers hot water supply also failed me. (half way through my shower of course.) now I ask you, being of course, the sane, rational human beings that I know you to be, does any of this SOUND like Wednesday?? Whit I’m with ya man, we gotta get rid of Monday.. ~Scratch~ | | Posted by Scratch at 11:28 PM -

Monday... Blah! my very worst day of the week, so hard to get my bored rear end motivated. coffee helps, but I still have to start this chit all over again. Shipping and receiving isn't as rough on me as working the foundry was, but it is still tough to get excited about. ahh well, one foot in front of the other I suppose. it could be worse I could be unemployed. Well, time to get moving, I'll see you all later in the week. be safe. | | Posted by Scratch at 7:20 AM -
